Dans le cadre de la première journée du groupe D de l’édition 2023 de la Gold Cup de football, le Guatemala a battu Cuba (1-0), du côté de Fort Lauderdale, hier mardi 27 juin 2023 aux Etats-Unis. Après ce tout premier revers, les joueurs cubains ont vu quatre des leurs effectifs déserter, seulement quelques heures après la fin de cette rencontre.
Quatre joueurs de la sélection cubaine ont quitté le rassemblement de leur sélection nationale et pris la fuite dans la nuit du 27 au 28 juin 2023, seulement quelques heures après la défaite enregistrée face au Guatemala (1-0) en phase de groupe de la Gold Cup.
Roberney Caballero, Neisser Sandó, Jassael Herrera et Denilson Milanés sont les déserteurs de la sélection cubaine, selon des informations de plusieurs journalistes américain. Ce geste est loin d’être une première, puisque des cas similaires avaient déjà eu lieu au sein de cette même sélection lors de précédentes et récentes éditions de la Gold Cup, notamment en 2015 et 2019.
Notons que, pour la deuxième journée des phases de groupe de la compétition, l’équipe Cubaine affrontera celle de la Guadeloupe, le Dimanche 2 juillet prochain.
