Dans un communiqué publié le jeudi 15 Juin 2023, les dirigeants de la Compagnie Developpement Industriel (CODEVI) disent regretter les événements ayant occasionné la mort de deux (2) de leurs employés et de nombreux blessés par balles sans compter les personnes qui ont perdues connaissance après avoir inhalé du gaz lacrymogène. Si pour certains, les agents de sécurité du centre sont responsables de la mort des deux employés, les responsables de la CODEVI parlent dans leur communiqué, d’altercation entre des agents de la Police Nationale d’Haïti et des ouvriers.
Les raisons de cet échauffourée ne sont pas encore connues mais l’administration de la CODEVI indique qu’une enquête est cours pour déterminer les circonstances de cet incident majeur.
Cette journée de tension au niveau du parc industriel CODEVI a été marqué par des tirs nourris d’armes lourdes, le lancement de plusieurs bonbronnes de gaz lacrymogène. Lesquels moyens ayant été utilisé par les agents de la PNH pour reprendre le contrôle de la situation.
