En deux (2) jours (17 et 18 Mai), la Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH) a enregistré de lourdes pertes matérielles. À la sortie nord de la Capitale, deux (2) blindés de l’institution qui, selon certaines sources, devaient sécuriser une plage privée ont été pris pour cible par des bandits lourdement armés. Ils font parties du lot de blindés fraichement livrés par la compagnie canadienne « Inkas ».
En date du 22 Mai 2023, des bandits de Village de Dieu, ont incendié une pelleteuse, propriété de l’institution policière. Comme un vieil adage créole « lè chat pa la, rat pran kay ». Soulignons que depuis le 18 Mai dernier des centaines de policiers étaient mobilisés pour sécuriser le premier ministre et son gouvernement dans le nord, au Cap-haitien, à l’occasion de la célébration des 220 ans du drapeau haïtien.
Selon certains, plusieurs des policiers qui accompagnait la délégation gouvernementale étaient affectés à l’opération visant à déloger le gang « 5 segond » opérant depuis plus de deux (2) ans dans ce bidonville situé à la sortie sud de la Capitale.
Les pertes en matérielles de la PNH sont évaluées à plus de 2 millions de dollars américains, estime un responsable de l’institution.
