Selon les Services de Sécurité russes (FSB), le journaliste américain du Wall Street Journal (WSJ) Evan Gershkovich accrédité au bureau moscovite du journal a été arrêté en Russie, ce jeudi. Il est soupçonné d’espionnage au profit des États-Unis et de collecter des informations sur une entreprise du complexe militaro-industriel russe.
A quelques heures de cette arrestation, la France s’est dit préoccupée et inquiète de l’attitude répressive de la Russie à l’égard de la presse. “Nous sommes particulièrement inquiets et nous avons l’occasion de condamner l’attitude répressive de la Russie, que ce soit à l’égard de la presse russe ou de la presse étrangère“, a déclaré Anne-Claire Legendre, porte-parole du ministère français des Affaires étrangères, lors d’un point presse.
Par ailleurs, la porte-parole de la diplomatie russe Maria Zakharova, estime que journaliste américain du Wall Street Journal arrêté en Russie pour « espionnage » avait été pris la main dans le sac. «Ce que faisait le collaborateur de la publication américaine Wall Street Journal à Ekaterinbourg n’avait aucun rapport avec le journalisme» a-t-elle écrit sur Telegram, en ajoutant que le reporter n’était «pas le premier occidental célèbre à être pris la main dans le sac».
Toutefois, le quotidien Wall Street Journal (WSJ) dans un bref communiqué s’est dit « profondément préoccupé pour la sécurité de son journaliste arrêté en Russie pour ‘ »espionnage », dans un contexte de tensions entre Moscou et Washington sur fond de conflit en Ukraine.
