Le FBI avait offert une récompense de 50 000 dollars pour toute aide contribuant à leur libération et à l’arrestation des suspects malheureusement deux d’entre eux sont morts.
De son côté, un porte-parole de la Maison Blanche a indiqué que les autorités américaines allaient « travailler étroitement avec le gouvernement mexicain pour s’assurer que justice soit faite ».
Les attaques contre des citoyens américains sont « inacceptables », a dit John Kirby, porte-parole de la Maison Blanche pour les questions de sécurité nationale, en transmettant ses « plus sincères condoléances » aux proches des deux personnes tuées.
