Parallèlement aux informations fournies par la Voix de l’Amérique, l’U.S Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) a affirmé que « les équipes de sauvetage de l’U.S Coast Guard ont sauvé la vie de 218 Haïtiens d’un navire échoué ce samedi 6 août. Les équipages continuent de rechercher 5 personnes portées disparues », lit-on dans un message de ladite instance qui déconseille fortement aux Haïtiens de risquer leur vie en mer.
