L’Office de Protection du Citoyen (OPC) exprime son indignation face aux propos de Donald Trump qui déclare sur Fox News que de nombreux migrants haïtiens qui arrivent sur le sol américain sont porteurs du VIH Sida.
La Structure des droits humains, l’OPC, dans une note rendue publique, ce samedi 9 octobre 2021, s’est dit choqué et attristé par les propos de l’ancien Président américain Donald Trump sur Fox News déclarant que de nombreux migrants haïtiens foulant le sol américain représentent un danger pour le peuple américain.
L’ancien locataire de la Maison Blanche a déclaré que plusieurs de ces migrants sont porteurs du VIH SIDA. L’OPC qualifie ces propos de “racistes et discriminatoires” rappelant tristement la période des années 80 où les migrants haïtiens étaient victimes de racisme aux USA par rapport à l’évolution du VIH SIDA dans le pays.
Grâce aux efforts réalisés dans la lutte contre le virus, selon les données fournies par les professionnels de santé, la prévalence du VIH a considérablement diminué et a atteint la barre de 2%, souligne l’OPC. PEPFAR (USAID) et Fonds Mondial sont les deux plus grands partenaires qui ont soutenu Haïti pour une élimination du VIH à l’horizon de 2030.
L’OPC encourage les autorités haïtiennes concernées à exprimer leur préoccupation auprès de leurs homologues américains suite aux déclarations de Donald Trump afin d’éviter d’éventuels incidents regrettables.
