Haïti/séisme: le bilan s’alourdit dans les régions des côtes sud d’Haïti

Touchées par un terrible tremblement de terre au cours de la matinée du samedi 14 août 2021, les côtes sud de la République d’Haïti comptent déjà de nombreux cadavres. Selon les derniers chiffres communiqués par les responsables de la protection civile, le bilan partiel des décès passe de 129 à 279. Et le département du Sud enregistre à lui seul 158 cadres. Des centaines de blessés et des disparus sont aussi à déplorer, ont informé les autorités de la protection civile.

Des membres de la population des zones affectées par le tremblement de terre de ce samedi sont à pied d’oeuvre à la recherche des survivants toujours sous les décombres des bâtiments détruits dans les départements du Sud, de la Grand-Anse et  des Nippes. Les responsables annoncent avoir déjà recensé 279 morts et de plusieurs centaines de blessés ainsi que des personnes qui sont portées disparues.

Les dégâts matériels sont aussi considérables dans la région du grand sud du pays. Au cours de la journée, le premier ministre en fonction Ariel Henry, accompagné de certains membres de son cabinet ministériels, s’est rendu en avion dans la péninsule du sud-ouest d’Haïti pour une première évaluation de la situation.

« Je viens de survoler, à basse altitude, la ville des Cayes pour prendre connaissance de l’étendue des dégâts en vue de mieux canaliser les interventions d’urgence », a indiqué le premier ministre Ariel Henry à travers son compte Twitter. La population des zones frappées par le séisme, actuellement sous le choc attend l’aide des autorités de l’État pour faire face à la situation.
