Le Pape François a regagné ce mercredi sa résidence, située à la Cité du Vatican, après avoir passé plusieurs jours à l’hôpital où il a été admis pour subir une intervention chirurgicale au niveau du côlon.
Le souverain pontife a finalement laissé en début de matinée de ce mercredi le centre où il a été hospitalisé pendant environ 10 jours. En effet, il a pu rejoindre son petit appartement luxueux de la Cité du Vatican. L’octogenaire doit profiter de son repos pour se rétablir complètement bien avant de reprendre ses activités pontificales.
« Prenant place à l’avant d’une voiture aux vitres teintée, le souverain pontife âgé de 84 ans a quitté en fin de matinée l’hôpital universitaire Gemelli où il était en convalescence après avoir été opéré du côlon le 4 juillet, a constaté un photographe de l’AFP », cité par Europe1.fr.
À en croire les propos du porte-parole du Vatican Matteo Bruni, le Pape a rentré chez lui peu avant midi au cours de la journée de ce mercredi. Par la suite, il s’est rendu à la basilique romaine Saint-Marie-Majeure devant une icône de la Vierge, en signe de remerciement « pour le succès de son opération » et pour prier « pour tous les malades », a ajouté le média susmentionné.
Le quatre juillet dernier, le Pape a subi une intervention chirurgicale sous anesthésie générale afin de soustraire une portion de son côlon et il « avait célébré l’Angelus dimanche depuis un balcon de l’hôpital », a précisé l’Europe1.fr. Toutefois, le Saint-Siège avait prévu dix jours d’hospitalisation du souverain pontife s’il n’ y a pas toutefois de complications. Mais à ce qu’il paraît l’Argentin prendra plus de temps que prévu pour se récupérer.
Depuis son intronisation comme Pape en 2013, Jorge Bergoglio jouissait d’une santé robuste en dépit de ses multiples démarches médicales relatives à des douleurs de la hanche dont il souffrait. Mais via la dégradation de sa santé ces derniers jours, le souverain pontife a été obligé de subir une opération sous demande expresse de ses médecins.
