Grave incendie à l’école Jean-Marie Guilloux, les dégâts matériels sont considérables
Un grave incendie s’est éclaté à l’école Jean-Marie Guilloux dans l’après-midi du vendredi 7 mai 2021 et a causé des dégâts matériels considérables, a-t-on appris de source digne de foi.
Ce sinistre a détruit plusieurs compartiments de l’institution . Situé au dos de la Cathédrale de Port-au-Prince, ce batiment vieux d’environ un siècle n’a pas pu échapper à la fureur du feu ce vendredi après-midi. Selon les informations relayées par un reporter de la Radiotélévision Caraïbes qui a été sur les lieux, le feu a détruit complètement la direction et plusieurs bureaux des responsables de l’école. Une vidéo diffusée sur la page Facebook de la radio susmentionnée a montré plusieurs compartiments de l’institution ravagés par le feu. À en croire ce reporter de la RTVC qui relate les propos d’un employé de l’établissement, un court-circuit serait à la base de cette tragédie.
Les sapeurs-pompiers qui ont été dépêchés sur le site du drame n’ont malheureusement pas pu aider à préserver les livres ainsi que les autres matériels de bureau de cet établissement scolaire des Frères de l’Instruction Chrétienne (FIC). Toutefois, grâce à leurs efforts, ils arrivaient à circonscrire le feu afin de limiter les dégâts. Aucune perte en vie humaine n’était recensé lors de ce terrible incendie.
Inauguré le 13 mai 1924 dans ce batiment de la rue des Miracles, l’école Jean-Marie Guilloux est l’un des plus anciens établissements scolaires des Frères de l’Instruction Chrétienne en Haïti. L’école fut ainsi baptisée en mémoire du prêtre et évêque Jean-Marie Guilloux, qui de son vivant avait consenti beaucoup d’efforts et de sacrifices pour aider les pauvres. L’incendie de cet établissement scolaire qui a formé plusieurs générations constitue une perte énorme pour la communauté haïtienne en général et pour l’église catholique en particulier.
